A cardinal appearing in your yard signifies a visitor from heaven, often a message of comfort, hope, or reassurance from a deceased loved one. It’s considered a sign that you are not alone and are being watched over, especially during times of need or despair.
I was recently sent an episode of Stephen Bartlett’s podcast. In this episode neuroscientist and psychologist Dr Tara Swart was a guest. Dr. Tara believes, has studied, and has scientific evidence to suggest we can communicate with those who have passed.
Two weeks before the podcast a cardinal appeared in an oak tree in front of me. I had never seen such a small cardinal before. I indulged in my senses, entertaining myself I asked it to come closer to me, to the little tree right in front of me, it flew away. Ten minutes later the small cardinal appeared in the tree in front of me just as I had asked. In that moment I knew exactly who it was that was visiting. I was thankful and it felt good.
A week later, there were some heavy circumstances in my life where I was being tested. I was being challenged in a way where I had to step up in a very uncomfortable situation whether I wanted to or not. In retrospect I know who the cardinal was representing and why it was that person coming through. They were there to tell me I had the tools to do what I needed to do, take care of the people in my life and get through some serious shit!
After listening to the podcast with Dr. Tara and Stephen Bartlett, I realized so much of what Dr. Tara was saying are things that I can do. Whether it be a connection to my spirituality and an openness to see signs that other people may miss, or just a skill that I’ve honed over my lifetime because that’s what provided me with comfort. Either way, I’m grateful for my cardinal visit, I’m grateful for the spiritual push to draw on all my emotional coping skills to survive this time and I’m even more grateful to listen to such an educated and smart conversation about something that I’ve always felt to be so true.
